Ash4Soil

Results of Ash4Soil

The results to be achieved by the Ash4Soil project are as follows:

1. Formulation and development of an amendment product obtained from the physicochemical characterization and blending of ashes from the combustion of forest by-products and livestock waste with fertilizing properties (manure/poultry litter).
2. Agronomic valorization of the amendment-fertilizer product through the improvement of pH in acidic soils, aiming to reduce the cost of liming by at least 10%, improve agricultural and forestry productivity by decreasing the need for mineral fertilizers by around 30%, and reduce farmers’ production costs by approximately 20%, while increasing forest productivity by about 10% through earlier harvesting.
3. Quantification of the economic, environmental, and social sustainability indicators of the obtained amendment-fertilizer product and the development of the integrated sustainability indicator.
4. Validation of the integrated sustainability indicator for the use of the amendment-fertilizer product on agricultural land (wheat and cherry) and forest land (broadleaf and coniferous trees) by the main stakeholders involved in the development of the amendment-fertilizer.
5. Determination of the properties and specifications to be met by the new product for its commercialization, based on current regulations and legislation.
